Collecting Fabric
Janice will be collecting fabric for the Ursuline nuns at St. Joseph Convent in Maple Mount, Kentucky. She received several full bolts during the November meeting. She is collecting all kinds of fabric. The nuns use the fabric to make quilts and sell them. The money from the sale of the quilts goes to pay for the upkeep of the buildings at the convent.

Don't forget your Dues!
It's that time of year again! This year, our dues are not payable to TVQA until mid-February. The dues are $25 - $10 goes to the Iris Guild and $15 goes to TVQA. Make your checks payable to the Iris Guild.

TVOA Meetings
In case you weren't aware, the quarterly TVQA meetings are open to all TVQA members. The next meeting is on February 9th, from 10 to 12 at Farm Bureau, 811 S Church Street in Murfreesboro. Since the TVQA has excess funds in the treasury, it has been decided that guilds who attend the meetings regularly will be rewarded. In order to be eligible for the reward, 2 representatives from the guild must attend every meeting beginning in August 2005 and the guild secretary must send a written report every quarter beginning in November 2005. TVQA is our "momma" guild. These quarterly meetings are your chance to voice your opinions. I know most of us work, and that's a deterrent to attending a daytime meeting. I will attempt to go to each meeting, so if you have any issues with TVQA that you would like to have expressed at the quarterly meeting, please let me know and I will voice them on your behalf. If you would like to attend and need directions, please let Abby know.

2007 Iris Quilt Guild Challenge
Theme "Quilt Lottery"
Rules:
1. Theme Fabric: Quilters will receive 1/2 yard of the theme fabric to be used in a recognizable amount in the quilt. Add as many other fabrics as you choose. The first 1/2 will be furnished by the Guild. If you take fabric and do not make a quilt, you will need to pay the Guild back for the price of the fabric ($4.) If you would like more of the theme fabric, you may purchase it from Su Smith's shop, "Mount Juliet Quilts and Things."
2. For the Iris Challenge, there is no size requirement. For AQS consideration, the quilt should measure at least 30 inches on each side by no more than 60 inches on each side.
3. Quilt patterns will be chosen from a collection of many different traditional quilt patterns. Each qui Iter will choose a different block. She will contact Chris Davis to register her block choice so that there will be no duplications. Chris's phone number is 365-7807. The quilter is then challenged to change, resize or interpret the pattern in any fashion at her discretion. Use your imagination. Put a spin on it, have fun.
4. The finished quilts will be due during the April 2007 Iris Guild meeting. At that time, the Quilt Lottery Challenge quilts will be displayed. Judging will be performed by the Guild members and prizes will be awarded. If we have the required number of eligible quilts for AQS, we will send in quilt entries to be considered for the AQS contest. FYI: We no longer need to send in the actual quilts, pictures are required for entry.
